meshwatch

A Meshtastic client for Garmin watches. The watch shows you the mesh on your wrist: who is up, their battery, when they were last heard, and the message traffic. Phone-free and internet-free.

What it does

  • Node roster with battery level and last-heard timers.
  • Message log, plus canned replies for gloves-on use.
  • Ten devices on the tactix and fenix line, fenix 6X Pro to fenix 8.
  • Your phone stays in the pack. Nothing touches the internet.

Why it needs a bridge

A Garmin watch can’t read a Meshtastic node directly: Connect IQ caps every Bluetooth read at about 20 bytes, and a Meshtastic packet spends most of that on framing. So a small ESP32 bridge reads a stock node at full packet size and re-serves the traffic in frames the watch can take. The node still does all the radio work.

Status

The watch app is built for ten devices. The bridge firmware compiles but hasn’t run on hardware yet. We aren’t taking money for it until it’s proven on a real node.
